I’ve added a bunch of links to friends and family websites, and an rss feed button on the right, if you’re into that kind of thing. Which I am–I don’t think I could navigate the internet anymore without google reader.
Anyway, I’m having a lot of fun with wordpress, there’s really just a plugin for anything you can think of, and a lot of stuff that looks daunting on other peoples’ websites are actually just a one click process. I did try to learn a little css to play with the stylesheet a bit for this theme, but that was the hardest part.
I’ll hopefully be uploaded a couple more scripts soon. I wrote my first python script the other day that does something outside of maya. Woohoo! I basically wanted to make a header for the tools I was going to put on the site, but I didn’t want to add them all manually. So I made a python script that takes a header template and writes it to the beginning of each file. It also adds the version, date, filename, function name, etc. It was a good exercise, because I’ve been wanting to play with python properly outside of a maya environment, but I tend to get bored with “hello world” type lessons that don’t actually do anything. But because with this project I had a goal that was a useful tool, I was really motivated and learned a lot.
